Catina Cobb-West

TBRI Practitioner

Meet Catina Cobb-West – a bio, bonus, step, previous kinship, foster, and grand MOM turned advocate for family preservation. From her earliest days, Catina always dreamed of making a difference. As a child she would tell anyone that would listen that she was going to grow up to open an orphanage so she could love all the babies that needed to be loved! Catina moved to Missouri with her husband and her 2 girls that were still living at home in 2014. In 2015 her family embarked on their journey as a foster family here. In 2020, she expanded her role by becoming a Training Resource parent.

With a passion for teens and a firm belief in keeping siblings together, Catina's journey as a foster parent has been one of unwavering dedication and compassion. In 2016, faced with the separation of two brothers from their younger sisters, Catina took action. She quickly moved her family to a larger home to ensure the siblings could stay together, refusing to let them be torn apart due to a lack of space. "Children lose so much when they are placed in care; they absolutely do not need to lose each other too," Catina emphasizes.

With three biological children and two bonus children from marriage, there was never a goal to adopt, she simply wanted to stand in the gap for the children and families that needed some extra support during a difficult season in their life. However, no one ever knows what surprises are in store when they begin fostering! Today she has 16 children she calls her own from 34 years old all the way down to 2 years old! Catina's home is a testament to love and family. Through her experiences, her heart has always been with bio parents, working to support them

and restore families whenever possible.

This year, Catina's commitment to supporting and empowering bio families on their journey toward restoration led her to pursue training as a TBRI practitioner, with a vision to provide this valuable resource to bio families striving to reunite. Now, through Family Advocacy Solutions, Catina is honored (and humbled) to be able to offer TBRI training as an approved parenting class.

Catina's passion for foster care, the children and families served, both biological and foster, doesn't stop with TBRI for bio families. She also trains TBRI and a variety of other classes for foster families and will soon be completing her practitioner training for the Halo Project, Making Sense of Your Past WORTH – another resource to support families in their healing journey.

With boundless enthusiasm and compassion, Catina strives to make a profound impact, embodying the true spirit of foster care and family preservation.
