Katy Velasquez
Founder and Director
Katy Velasquez graduated from Crowder College in 2012 with an AA in Addictions Counseling and then went on to Missouri Southern State University earning a BA in Sociology in 2018.
In 2016 Katy started her journey as a foster parent. It was through that journey that she realized the need for support for families involved in the child welfare system. Katy began working as a Substance Abuse Counselor and a Parent Aide while she finished her degree, and then founded Family Advocacy Solutions in 2018. Although the initial goal was only to serve her own caseload of clients, the need was greater than what Katy could accommodate herself. The agency has grown as needs in the local foster care world have been identified.
Katy currently serves on the board of Monett Area Fuller Center for Housing (formerly Habitat for Humanity Monett/Purdy) and Consumer Credit Counseling of Southwest Missouri. Katy also volunteered on the St. Lawrence Home and School Board from 2019-2022.
Katy has continued to be a foster parent and has adopted through the foster care system. Katy is honored to be a part of the lives of many children in whatever way they need.
